Spectrum Printing & Graphics was originally founded in 1993 as Copies Now, a small, family-run quick print franchise. In 1995 we evolved into a full Sir Speedy print/copy shop, having expanded our size and services.
Our continued growth and expanded quality earned us numerous industry awards. For five consecutive years, we were in the Sir Speedy Million Dollar Club and consistently ranked in the Top Ten Sir Speedy franchises worldwide. We were honored as a “Quick Print Giant” by Quick Print Products magazine and consistently recognized as one of the Top 100 quick printers nationwide by Quick Printing magazine.
From 1999 to 2012, we were designated one of the Top Commercial Printers in the region by The Washington Business Journal. The BCC Chamber of Commerce also named us as its “Business of the Year”. In 2013, we achieved one of the great honors of our industry when were named to the list of 400 top commercial printers by Printing Impression Magazine. Along the way, we have been fortunate to win many awards for our quality and services, including multiple PGAMA best-of-show awards.
In January of 2001, we decided to move beyond our beginnings as a quick print franchise, and venture forward as an independent, full-service printer; Spectrum Printing & Graphics. After 2 ½ years of growth and success, we felt that the best way to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations was to merge with McBride’s Printing & Graphics of Gaithersburg, another high-quality print shop.
Beginning in May of 2003 we united the considerable capabilities and exceptional personnel of the two established companies into one. This acquisition allowed us to increase our offset printing capabilities, and venture into the world of direct mail and mail shop services.
In our efforts to respond to our customers’ increasing requirements, we merged with Pinnacle Printing of Rockville in the summer of 2004. This move allowed us to expand our services to include quality four-color offset printing, complete in-house bindery and broadened mail and fulfillment shop.
In our continued quest for high-quality service and greater productivity, in the summer of 2005, we moved to merge our two locations into one. We relocated our Bethesda digital on-demand facility into the newly expanded Rockville production plant and added a Kodak NexPress digital press to our equipment lineup. This allowed us to have all our extensive equipment and knowledgeable staff under one roof, to provide you with the best possible products and services.
Next, we merged with Decatur Press of Rockville in the spring of 2008. This strategic alliance added experienced staff, the scope of equipment, and we dramatically enhanced the quality of our work. It also allowed us to decrease the time needed to deliver satisfaction to our valuable customers.
We grew again in the summer of 2010 when we added key talented staff and increasingly diversified equipment in our merger with EPS Printing of Rockville. This step was instrumental in expanding our bindery and mail shop, along with helping to fill out our roster of impressive and knowledgeable employees.
